When you’re a single gal, you get asked a lot of annoying questions. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked single people about being lonely, I would probably be as rich as a Kardashian. What’s even more annoying is that if you find someone who’s good enough to make you want to be in a relationship, the questions don’t stop. In fact, some could argue that the questions about your relationship are even worse.
There are a ton of irritating questions people can ask you (hello, anything about major life decisions), but the ones about your relationship seriously make you want to grind your teeth in frustration. It would be one thing if the questions were asked out of genuine concern for you or for bae, but they very rarely are. Normally, they are asked because people are downright nosy, or they’re actually clueless about how rude the questions are. Other peeps also seem to think that they’re the unofficial third partner in your relationship so they can ask you anything. Gahhhh.
You probably want to talk about bae (and how awesome he/she is), but you don’t want to have to answer ridiculous questions. You don’t even want to hear them to begin with. I know that just listening to someone utter stupid questions makes my blood boil. Can everyone do us a favor and stop asking these relationship questions? When we want to share some information about our relationship, we’ll tell you, alright?
1. “Do you ever miss being single?”
Do you ever miss not being annoying?
2. “Are you worried about him/her around other people?”
Are you asking if I want bae to be a hermit and have absolutely no social interaction with anyone, ever?
3. “Do you love him/her?”
Do I love you asking me? No. Do I even like it? No.
4. “Do you trust your SO?”
Where is this even coming from? Are you hinting you have some sort of damning evidence, or are you deliberately trying to upset me?
5. “Do you think bae is ~*the one*~?”
If I do, do you think you would really be the first person I would tell instead of bae? And what would happen if I say I’m not sure?
6. “What does your family think of him/her?”
Why don’t you go ask them yourself if you’re so bloody concerned? Actually, no, don’t even bother. They don’t want to answer your questions.
7. “When are you guys going to make it official?”
WTF do you even mean by that? Do you mean change our Facebook relationship statuses? Do you mean put some announcement in the newspaper? Or do you mean put a ring on it? Whatever you mean, it is annoying.
8. “When are you going to take your relationship to the next level?”
Seriously, dude, you need to chill.
9. “What about your ex?”
What about my ex, what? I’m not bringing my ex into this and neither is bae, so why are you?
10. “When are you guys going to move in together?”
I love how it is always “when.” It’s never “are.”
11. “Do you think you’re going to get married?”
CHILLLLLLLLLLLLL. You need to go have a breather. FFS.
